Let the Holidays Begin!

It has been so busy at the store that I have neglecting the blog, sorry! I’ve been busy decorating the store and making wreaths, garlands and swags. I didn’t think I would like using the artificial berries and wreaths, but they actually look good. I mixed it with some natural dried plants and beautiful bows and they looked great.  I also chopped down some grape vines from my neighbor’s yard and made wreaths. I made a pine cone wreath as well and it is just beautiful.  It would make a great decoration for the store….but I don’t want to part with it.

We have been stocking up like you would not believe. We have a lot of Polish Pottery, Japanese dishes and colorful German tableware.

Get Ready for the Holidays

These fotoballs were so popular last year that we had to order more. We have them in silver, pink and yellow too. These fotoballs hold four 1″x1″ photos and they are made of polypropylene and acrylic, so they won’t break easily if they fall.

Get Ready for Bake Sales!

This weekend was the beginning of the great Halloween extravaganza. I made a cake for the cake walk, pumpkin pies in ramekins, oatmeal raisin cookies and m&m biscotti.  I personally like the pumpkin pie filling more than the pie crust, so I baked some squash, mashed it, added milk, spices, sugar and eggs. Then I sprayed the ramekins with oil, filled the ramekins with filling and baked it at 350 for about 35 minutes. I ate it for breakfast.

Treats and Coffee Day

tarts

It was a great day to stop by. The tarts from Whole Foods were as yummy as they were beautiful. From La Brioche bakery, we got yellow cake with a raspberry filling and cream frosting. This was also very good. A lot of people from the nearby stores heard about the great food and stopped by. Thank you friends and customers for being there to help us celebrate! –Emi
